"The Witcher" fanart. I decided to paint Ciri before the third game change my idea of her.

Such an awesome game series, and your artwork is very beautiful.  :)  Really love the detail throughout and especially the soft lighting effect you created.

Oh wow she's so beautiful! :D

quick question: did you paint this in greyscale and then add color did you stick with just color the whole way?

Sorry for the late reply :( I painted in grayscale, it's a lot easier to get values right like this :3

Oh don't worry. It's all right ^^

Ah I see. :) What layer options/properties (I forget what it's called, but it's how you adjust the layer to give it a different look such as Overlay, hard light, soft light, etc :P) did you use to get your skin tone?

I used Overlay layer for the skintone and then painted over it in default mode - it never looks good enough without paintover, them layers aren't that smart ;_; Overlay mode gives vibrant colors but it changes shadows a bit (softer ones dissappear), in that case Color option works better for me - colors are a bit dull, but the shadows stay in their places, and then you can add some lights with Overlay. If I use Soft Light mode, then it's for final touch up, to lighten or darken some big areas.
I hope it helped at least a little bit :3

OOooooohhh this is actually really helpful!! :D Thank you!!
I understand how greyscale makes it easy but I always had problems with using the layer settings for skin tone to add color. It always turned out looking unnatural ^^; But knowing this now actually helps.
